They should be fine in the original plastic but if you see some problems then quickly transfer them to a Airtite holder to slow down any damage.
I am not sure just what the material is that the maple leaf is in. If it is a hard plastic case or a hard plastic flip, leave it for now. If it is a soft plastic, it must be removed. Soft plastic has usually PVC in it, or other item that can damage coins over a period of time. Remove it using a clean lint free cloth and put it into a safety flip. You can get one at a coin dealer. Also store coins in a place that is moister free and the temperature does not change a lot from month to month. Cardboard holders that you staple can be used but the staples can scratch coins when trying to remove them and the paper dust is not good for the coin either.
Just some things to add. If you remove your Maple, don’t touch the coin surface. Hold the edge of coin with fingers. This next advice may sound silly, but try not to speak when u handle your coin. Saliva can cause damage and stain the surface.
