What are people's thoughts on this new $5 coin?
I hear that Canada is replacing their lovely blue dollar note with a coin, just like they changed the note with a Toonie. Are Canadians happy with this, or are they annoyed? Why do you think they are replacing the note with a coin? Is it because of a weak currency?
Quintessential: The question of why a weak economy would possibly lead to increased coinage is answered in your own response… Continue reading

Why are all prices so high in Canada?
Why is it that even after currency conversion, Canadians have to pay about 30% more for absolutely every consumer product around? For example, if you get on Best Buy’s Canadian website, and convert the prices to US dollars, than look at Best Buy’s US website… you’ll see that Canadians have to pay like 25%-30% more for EVERYTHING!! WTF?? Then throw in our taxes, and we’re actually paying about 35% more… Continue reading

Why are a lot of Canadians bad tippers?
Please understand that I’m not trying to be mean and I think most Canadians are nice people, but I would like to know why so many Canadians are bad tippers? I work at a restaurant near a major shopping area in Buffalo, NY and more than 50% of our customers are Canadian. I always smile, I am nice to everyone, but most of the Canadians I serve never tip more… Continue reading

How did Yahoo get this suggestion wrong?
When I asked:
"Why have the Canadians embraced their dollar coin (the loonie & the toonie), while in America it’s rarely used?"
Yahoo suggested this question belongs in the
"Society & Culture > Cultures & Groups > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered" category (Huh?!?)… Continue reading

Is pick pocketing with a magnet tied to a string a problem in Canada?
I live in the USA within 200 miles of the Canadian border and go to Canada now-and-then.
A couple of years ago I accidentally discovered most Canadian coins are magnetic. Including their one and two dollar coins. I E-mailed with the Canadian mint and they answered saying their coins are 95% steel.
One of my hobbies involves using a ring magnet on a length of string. I wonder… Continue reading

Thank-You in advance for any answers that may be provided.

How do I sue a Canadian?
Long story short. I work at a mall near the Canadian border. Canadians are always trying to use Canadian money to pay. We take Canadian bills, not the coins ("loonies" and "toonies"). Guy comes up to pay, says "Can I pay in Canadian change?". I tell him no and he asks why. I said because it’s a state law. He became angry and demanded that he be able to pay… Continue reading

Why wont americans accept the canadian dollar?
I am really puzzled as to why us Canadians will accept the US Dollar at any of our stores and bank yet when you go to the U.S they will not accept any Canadian money from us. My husband is a truck driver and travels to the USA all the time and has on occasion only Canadian funds available on him and has tried to have it converted at a… Continue reading
