What's up with this coin?
I recently found a strange quarter. It’s lighter than usual, and the reeding is uneven (in some places, the edge is almost entirely copper, in others, almost entirely nickel, but both metals are on all parts of the edge). I can’t find any info on a coin error of this type. What am I looking at here? My mind jumps to "counterfeit," but I’d like a more experienced opinion.

What happened to this Nevada state quarter that has no copper portion and is not silver?
I am a coin collector, and I can say it’s not counterfeit as far as I can tell, and it’s not silver. It appears to be all nickel and completely missing the copper portion. Weighs less than a pure silver state quarter, but it’s the same thickness. It’s in MS-60 condition and it doesn’t have any conditions that would lead me to suspect the cladding has been removed.… Continue reading
