What to Look for in a Coin Dealer

When you go out looking for a coin dealer, as a new collector or one who has been collecting, you want to go with a dealer who is experienced in the trade. This is important because of a few reasons that I will shortly discuss.

The first thing you want from your dealer is advice. Mow, you are definitely not going to get this from someone who started dealing coins just recently. Reading and studying about a trade is not enough, having working knowledge is very important.

You also want a dealer who knows where to get great bargains and deals for you when you want to buy coins. He will also know who is in the market for coins you might want to dispose of, and who is going to offer the best price for them. Again this knowledge will come about from being in the field for a while.

A good dealer is one who has experience, because he started to collect coins in his youth, and then went on to become a dealer. In light of this, you might find a young dealer whose experience stems from a childhood hobby turned career.

For your own comfort and peace of mind, you should always check and research on the experience of the coin dealer before you settle on using their services. Ask any questions you might have and satisfy your curiosity. In the end, what matters is that you choose to go with a dealer that you will trust and who you are confident in.
